I am so mad to hear this i cant even tell you.You sir are very ignorant, and are following a stereotype about vw's from the late 70's.You just made a blanket statement about millions of people. In fact the golf is the most produced car in the world.Get some car sense you idiot.BTW, when you say vw people, are you reffering to these people also, lamborghini, audi, seat, skoda, buggati, bentley and part of porsche owners??because i gurantee you dont know that VW owns those companys.Vw style is shaved, cool low clean and classy.JDM style is a bunch of plastic **** hanging everywhere and a desire to have every ugly azz 'JDM" part just because its "jdm".Fact is,if our usdm lights were jdm and vice versa, people would still want what ever they have.end rant

while I don't agree with dbsears I think that the low/slow belongs to Dubbers when it starts to spread to other cars is when its retarded. I think a performance car is made to perform not be a show car drive it, track it, beat on it it was made to be driven.

exactly^,and there are fast vw's.saying hondas are faster is dumb. What stock usdm honda is faster the a GTI, R32?i mean the corrado was supercharged in 1990, and had more power then any usdm honda until like 2002 or something.Maybe not even that soon.I know my brothers 2000 si is heavily modded, supercharged and i would break his *** off in my wifes stock 1.8T.Also my friend has a fully built gnarly *** turbo hatch and i would smoke him in my 1.8T.Mine was heavily modded but i was running a stock frame turbo, full interior. He was fully built for speed.Come to think of it,there has never even been a FI honda in stock form.stupid, get with the program already honda.

someone gone butt-hurt. Thanks for sharing the story/pics OP. Too funny, and hadn't seen this before either. At the very least I hope he removes the vette flags!

lol... in all honesty, i freakin hate hondas, but you are talking out of your *** here. stock s2000 will smash on your 1.8T. every vw stock is underpowered, heavy, and pretty damned ugly if you ask my opinion (even though i know you are not). there are SOOO many more fast hondas out there than vw... lol. you my friend, are fanboy to the max. Stop using your obvious bias towards vw to argue against the OP. he was stating his opinion in the absolute absurdity (both in terms of looks and safety) of this guys wheel setup. Don't like it, don't read it. I'm sure you could spend your time better elsewhere, like doin some ridiculous tire stretching onto one of your own vw's.... hate on JDM all you want, but just remember which forum you are on...

I used as much bead sealer as possible, but the customer is always right.

I would have pics installed on the car but on his way back to the shop he hit a construction site and wound up putting a hole in his oil pan.

He picked up the wheels in a tow truck with his car on the bed.

Nice guy and all, I just do not understand the logic of stretched tires.
What do you use to bead em? Just a cheetah?

Yup, just the Cheetah. I've mounted some crazy wheels at my work.

This is my project for today.

This is my last GTI. I owned it for 17 years. I had a '76 Scirocco, an A1 GTI, and couple of A2 GTIs. 25 years ago, there wasn't much on offer for a sporting driver. I realize that's probably before some folks here were born. At that time, when automobiles hit an all-time low in terms of their sporting pretensions, Volkswagen's offerings were a breath of fresh air. Most people who bought the cars were of similar mindset; they wanted a relatively quick, great-handling car they could afford. Thus, GTI drivers were typically concerned with one thing - performance.

As the years passed, the original buyers of these cars long abandoned them for other pastures, but the "cool factor," if you will, remained. In an ironic twist, these cars are now being modded within an inch of their lives in a manner that decreases their performance - the exact opposite of what made them desirable in the first place.

I've done 125psi to seat a set of those Vdub wheels. Mind you with a broomstick cause I didn't want to be ANYWHERE NEAR that wheel/tire when it popped. I did it cause none of my techs wanted too He had a custom set of wheels cut in half and about 2 inches of metal welded in between the two wheels to widen them. They balanced out PERFECTLY...I was very surprised. Crazy stuff...
