Not that i dont respect vw as a car. There are a lot of fast vw's around, and they are solid cars, its just the idiots that mod them into unsafe, ugly ****boxes. Yes, in germany, ppl may have a legitimate reason to stretch tires. But this is not germany. This is the us, and that looks stupid, and its quite dangerous. Make your car faster, not lower and slower. Just my .02

Your dumb,in no way did i say anything bad about the OP.i was responding to someoneelse. The op didnt say anything but look at these wheels i put on.Also, the s2000 came out when?99?before that stock vws would destroy hondas.VWs are the original sport compact tuner cars.Funny because you dont think i ever ran into s2000?!!My gti with a chip DESTROYS them!!.I live in san diego fusion cafe has an all 22k meet every week.ask them and they will tell you.In terms of moddability, you should look at import tuner 2 months ago where the spent 3,000$ on s2k for 7 hp and 3 tq!!great car to mod!!maybe i am a vw fanboy but for a reason. You are a honda fanboy why??The ****tty interior?WEAK AZZ NO tq??
*edit - I know that was a lob, and this post should be deleted by a MOD. I'm ashamed of myself! haha!

your an idiot, there is a reason for this,in germany law stated that tire tread had to be no more then the fender line,so guess what??Stretch the tires get a wider wheel.Dont even knock euro style, jdm stuff is the stupidest E-V-E-R!!have you ever even seen a bonzai car?? yeah

I was referring to the Honda NSX, yes. Compared to the S2k in 99 and "...before that stock vws would destroy hondas...", which is why I quoted your post. It is interesting that you then jumped to comparing modded dubs to stock Hondas, though.
I agree with dbsears in that I see way more performance modded Hondas (and they are damn fast) than I do dubs. Of course that doesn't mean that more exist, just that I see more. I see more dubs with sleek exterior mods (rims, drops, etc.) and a lot of them do look nice, but not for me.

Yea, 1983 style, and cartoon character. But seriously, i am a hardcore car guy, not just dsm, or honda, or euro cars, just a car guy. I love them all, and respect everyones right to modify thier cars to suit thier taste, i just feel personally that form should follow function. Yea, make it look good, but serve a purpose. In germany, they stretch the tires to fit wider rims, but it probably started because they wanted to get a wider wheelbase, and better handling, not to look cool, the big stupid jdm wings started out to add downforce to the back of real race cars, and some dumb ricer decided that they wanted to look cool and add drag to make thier fwd car slower. Those stupid quad exhaust tips are a rip off of dual exhausts that added power to american muscle, and again, some rice ball decided to make his four banger look cool, took away the back pressure, and burned valves. Yes, origionally most mods start as function, then dumb asses turn it into form and **** it up.

LOL. awesome.
Do you guys remember when Mitsubishi...especially here in the US had such a bad rep in quality control, reliability and straight up costumer support?...wait...it still is that way. I remember reading recalls after recalls every month on eclipses, monteros, 3kgts it seemed like every car on their line up here in the US had something going wrong with them.
I'm a die hard Mitsu fan and I remember when I had bought my Colt hatchback in high school all my friends, their parents, even my family...all of them would have the same reaction..."Why a Mitsubishi??" "They don't hold up" "They aren't safe" I got my mirage in 99 and the same comments/questions, 2002 i got my lancer and the same comments/questions...when the evo came out the same thing...lol but i still continue to own and drive Mitsubishi's. Granted Mitsu has gotten better with said issues.
This debate of stretched or not to stretch...is it show or performance is such a tired debate...its been going on since the 80's. "To each their own"...that's all you have to say and just turn away.
In a way you can compare it to asians who love to eat rice with everything and most will tell you that they can't imagine a meal w/o rice and how white people eat mashed potatoes rather than rice and vice versa...you can say the same thing with white people. Who cares??? They're both loaded with carbs and can be very bad for you! LOL.
Much respect to both scenes keep doing your thing. Eat mashed potatoes or rice its up to you. I like them both.

At least they're trying something different...not sure if i can say the same with the jdm scene...tuck and shaved engine bays? dubbers [hot rodders really], tucked & stretched + fat lip + low offsets? dubbers. OEM+ look? dubbers. Interior swaps from newer cars into older cars. dubbers. cross swapping from the V.A.G family [sister companies...porsche,audi,lambo etc.]? dubbers.
Ok, I'll stop. Everyone sit back enjoy this teaser film.
