WRX Most expensive Car to Insure
Evo is not on the list. Suprised??

"Your own perfect driving record won't necessarily help you avoid those charges. The Journal explains, "Even if you have a spotless record of safe, accident-free driving in a Subaru WRX, you are also paying for the damage racked up by the other WRX drivers who aren't as careful as you are with this high-performance, turbo-charged machine."
That may ultimately be the problem with the WRX - it's not the car, it's the people who drive it. After all, Edmunds Straightline notes, the WRX offers a lot of horsepower for a low price. "Build a performance car and price it low enough for younger drivers to afford, and then, the insurance companies step into to ruin the fun," they comment."

My friends with their STi's are paying around 2800-3000$/yr for their insurance. With the same coverage, i'm paying just under $2000! My Evo is even cheaper than my old RSX to insure.

That's because us Evo guys love our cars and would never put them in any danger of getting wrecked. Most of us are older too. You can buy used WRX's for under 10g's these days. It is surprising though. My insurance is cheaper now that I have a brand new Xterra and the evo then it was when I had a 98 LS integra and a 2001 Prelude.

My wife and I pay almost the same for our cars. Her STi is actually just a shade less than my car is. I think she is listed as driving less than 7500 miles a year though because she lives so close to her work.

Well, now I'm kind of glad I did'nt pull the trigger on the WRX I almost pulled the trigger on without checking insurance rates first. I ended up getting a genesis coupe and only pay about $875/year for a turbo-charged sport coupe that most people don't even know is out yet, let alone what it is. Its hard to believe the tiburon is number 3 on the list, seems like the mustang would be on there instead. I bet its only a matter of time before the camaro joins the list also...

All it took was following a link in that article to see they didn't test the Evo (also this was for 05-07 vehicles), so I wouldn't start the circle-jerk just yet.
FWIW, when I bought my Evo I was considering an 09 WRX and did get a quote for both. The WRX was cheaper by about 15%.
