AE86 was never a spectacularly light car for its class:
For both Levin and Sprinter Trueno
Coupe - 925kg (2040lbs)
Hatch - 940kg (2070lbs)
And this was back in 1983, where as a Miata MX-5 weighed about the same in 1989.
FT-86 will be at least 2800lbs, most likely closer to 3100lbs.
500k is pretty cheap for a prototype.

Did anyone catch the small carbon fibre center-cap brake fans? Look at the auto blog pics. This can't be by accident. I wonder if this actually cools the brakes quicker?
