I think the FT86 platform has a ton of potential. Whether its Toyota's new G Division or possibly a new STI model based on the platform. Someone is sure to score big with it. I might just have to get a new daily driver

No. The car has always been developed with it being the spiritual successor to the Corolla AE86. Does it probably have a passing resemblance to every other Toyota 2 door protoype you've seen in the past 10-15 years? Maybe.

I just searched and just saw articles suspecting that they thought it MIGHT have been the new supra. It was just a speculation. BTW, nice DSM.

Thumbs up Toyota FT-86 redesign rumors false. Production version coming to Geneva show. NEW PIX

Saw posted on FT86club.

Interview with the car's senior designer which basically dispels the rumor about a redesign or alternative design. Also there's rumors that the production FT-86 will make its appearance at Geneva in just 10 days!

I believe it when I see it in person. The way Toyota is having issues now I think models like the FT86 might be on the botton of the priorities.
I think with the millions of dollars on repairs, lack of production and law suit Toyota will hold on for a while.

OMG finally a sports car in the toyota lineup. The fact that its a subie motor means you could drop in a turbo EJ from a WRX/STi!

Maybe it's just me but that car resembles the GT-R way too much.

If GT-R and the Genesis coup had a baby.

S2000 front, GT-R side, Genesis ***.

Maybe, but Toyota still has an obligation to Subaru on this, and I imagine that'll keep it pushing forward.

Doubt it. Toyota is charging full steam ahead with this project. They have to, it's a huge gaping hole for them in a market with great potential. By the time this car debuts, no one will even remember or care about the Toyota recalls. As soon as the media frenzy is over, it will be smooth sailing once again.
