I was just looking for a spare car, but something fast...I did a search online to see what people thought, and saw posts like NSX, MK4 supra, 3rd gen rx7. I doubt i will find a decent one of those for 5 grand...What do you all think?

 

$5k or $50k??? The fastest 4cyl car under $5k would be th good ol mighty 1g DSM's AWD Turbo. Supra, rx-7, and nsx's are gona be under $50k not $5k.

 

honestly i would look for a neon SRT4 you could prolly find one of those for that price

3/S (Dodge Stealth R/T TT or Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4) if you can find a decent one for that price, otherwise a DSM.

 

Buddy of mine just picked up a good condition/mileage Galant VR4 recently for under 5K....

You can probably find a blown up FD for under five. Their engines don't seem to last very long.
You can probably find a VR-4 with a bad trans for under five or one with over 150K miles. The trans can't be rebuilt and is very expensive.

If you want a running car, get a good clean 1G AWD DSM for like 1500-2500 and use the rest for mods.

Cmaro Z28, Trans Am or C4 all with LS1 motor. You can also pick a Stealth/3000GT VR4/, last but not least you might get a 300ZX or a 1 or 2G DSM AWD. Maybe a high mileage E-36 M-3.

even salvage titled na autos go higher than that with 100k+ miles as long as they are in decent condition or rebuilt.
