2011 Hyundai Sonata turbo engine...
Is this the same turbo as the one in the coupe (2.0 turbo)? If so, isn't this the Hyundai version of the 4B11?
I think the only difference is that this engine is Direct Injected.

No. The hybrid is the standard N/A motor with an Atkinson cycle mated to battery power.
The turbo car is...the turbo car, conventional power.

DI sucks *** the technology for tuning is way behind. I had a ms3 big turbo and built motor, no matter what we couldn't no get past 415whp. You'd have to have a extra set of injectors and a way to tune them to meet with the high hp. With the injectors being in the head, it can only get so much fuel in the small window on combustion. It will be sweet, but right now it not.
For example the disi motor would pop around 350whp, if you swap the head from the mzr and put it on the disi a guy was running like 500whp

This is not a tuner platform. DI is good tech for most drivers, but yes, until the aftermarket can find ways to cheaply produce better/bigger injectors and fuel pumps for DI applications, it will not be a stellar choice for tuners. You'll notice the Hyundai Genesis coupe does not have DI but the Sonata does. Maybe they were looking out for the tuners.

idk man, we had a huge problem with what mazda did form the factory. They made nasty fuel and boost cuts happen during akward situations, which would cause you to blow your motor. They ****ing put in a throttle plate, a metal plate would close as the rpms went up.
Upgraded injectors were a 1000 bucks, on top of the 400 upgrade to your stock fuel pump.
Its all a wash!!! bah
