Audi R4 (baby R8) coming in 2013. Slots in under Audi TT
R4um posted some new info on upcoming Audi R4 (baby R8)
* Audi R4 arriving in European market in 2013
* To be positioned below TT model in Audi lineup
* R4 coupe and R4 roadster variants expected
* Powered by at least 1.4 TFSI and 2.0 TDI
* Approximate weight: 1150 kg (2,500 pounds)
* Programmable nagivation via iPhone (program route on iPhone in comfort of your home, automatically syncs with R4 navigation)
I'm spectical of the estimate weight (nobody builds cars that light anymore, especially german brands), but do like how it's going to be cheaper than the TT

It is a major problem for Audi right now. It is in the design of the fuel injection system where carbon is building up on the valves due to a poor design, etc. My car seems to run fine, but many are complaining about huge power losses, cels, rough idle, etc. And in normal car manufacturer fashion Audi is fighting their customers on it. People are saying they are seeing these carbon build up isses in less than 10K miles... Many are documenting the cleanings and are filing lawsuits against AOA.
After a cleaning:
All the reading you could ever want on the issue below... My take on it is if you like an older unique car like the RS4 or RS6 you can deal with it. But no way I would buy a new Audi until this is redesigned... That being said we bought a new Q5 before I knew much about this and we love the SUV. I have no intentions of getting rid of it just because of the CBU. But no way I would buy an R8 or something like that knowing what I know now....

The carbon build up problem you are describing is common to any direct injected vehicle as the fuel is injected directly into the cylinder it doesn't pass through and clean the head as normal port injection does.

While I like the look of the newer TT, it's (comparatively) high cost vs performance will make me never really have interest in one.
If the R4 is coming in BELOW that then it's going to be even less appealling. It almost sounds like it'll be a new beetle in sheetmetal that looks like an R8.
