STI drive today
I drove an STI today, what a friggen joke!.. It doesn't hit anywhere as hard as my buddies stock EVO does. It was pretty mellow and ROUGH, that flat 4 sounds like a POS. The car didn't handle as well, it was softer and didn't feel on rails like the EVO does. It also has a big AIR SCOOP on the front which makes it feel as if you're driving a tractor when you're inside of it. Plus, the interior is got nothing going on..
EVO CITY HERE I COME.
EVO hits vicious, feels on rails, brakes great and rides good. I thought the STI was gonna feel insane compared to the EVO, but it had nothing over it.

You must not know how to drive. I have driven both and the STI is indeed faster. Not to mention saying a flat 4 sounds like a POS is in very bad taste.

i agree with the above.
even though i am en EVO fan and drive an EVO, i can be completely honest and tell you that STOCK FOR STOCK the STI is faster. it just doesn't feel like it hits you due to a very good power band with a lot of torque at the bottom (almost no turbo lag). if you want to bash the STI than by all means go ahead but i am sure most of the people here are mature enough to give credit where credit is due.

Seats aside, the STi's interior OWn3z the Evo's...well maybe the carpet in the STi sucks, but I haven't paid much attention to the Evo carpet so I can't call that one.
Everything else in the interior (Dash, guages, steering wheel, door panels) goes to the STi.
And yes, STi is faster stock, but a torquier curve makes it feel slower because the torque is there earlier. Of course the EVo handles and brakes better...it is a better chassis.
I am going to get the Evo...but don't dis the STi...it is a manly machine as well. To bad we don't get the RA 2 liter spec C...that car is actually faster than an EVO...I am talking about the latest one...the Twin scroll beast.

If STI was cheaper and sold without a markup, I would have gone with it even though the Evo feels much better to drive. But, both cars are so great you can't go wrong with either one; and besides, you have to thank Subaru for getting the WRX here in the states since that's the reason why Mitsu brought the Evo over. Than again STI owners have to thank Mitsu, because of the Evo, the STI got a bigger engine with 300hp.

i think the STi to me, was that it looked too cutesy to me. maybe becuase its a tad bit smaller than the EVO, just the length/wheelbase proportions didnt look as nice. other than that, i would love to get a buddy with an STi and gang up on all the "squeeling a cat" sounding civtegra's

I checked out the STI before I purchased my EVO and I was really disapointed. I was leaning toward the STI before I acually went shopping. The interior of the STI just plain sucks. The fit and finish are well below the EVOs. The suspension is softer and the car has a push. I hate that. It pushes on entry and gets worse if you let off the throttle. That front LSD that everyone wishes they had for thier EVO does not impress me.I think the LSD is what caused the off throttle push. In my opinion the Evo is a better all around. I did my homework and test drove both cars. I'm not saying that the STI is a total hunk of ****,but for the money, the EVO is a better quality, better built car. STI is faster in a straight line, but not by much.

Yea, I love my evo, but the STI is diffinitly a badass car. The only thing that I dont like about the STI are the seats and the headlights. Those can be change out with some money. Had I gone with the STI, here would be my mods to it:
New coilover: dropped
Badass volks or raing harts rims, 18s: Gold or Bronze
Turboback with EBC.
Bride racing seats if I have the extra cash to waste: Red or Blue.
Blitz BLM boost gauge.
Nice *** body kits.
Done for now...
By the way, my STI would be blue. With the turboback and EBC, you are looking at a 340bhp beast. This is one badass looking beast too. hahahaha, I daydream about this sometime. Too bad I'm married to a rally red evo. Peace...

The torque in the Sti is nice, but the 2.5l doesn't impress me...I'll leave it at that.

My friend picked up a black STI yesterday...He let me drive it and I was very impressed!! I love the gauges and the way the clutch engages almost as soon as you lift your foot!! Is it me or are the throws shorter in the STI than the EVO...seems that way. EVO's seats are wayyyy better. The STI doesnt have the immediate feedback when you turn the wheel like the EVO. The STI's power seems like the V6 in my former 2000 Eclipse GT...very smooth but with a lot more power!!
Overall I love the STI...but I feel like I'm driving a plushier car than the EVOs raw nature

For those who dont know much about the cars they are talking about, please dont say anything at all, because you will just end up looking sorry. For those of us who are lucky to own either one of the best rides on earth we know whats up, and would we all agree its not the car its the driver!

I drove an STI as well, and I don't regret buying the EVO at all. Still the STI does look good, muscular and has it's own attitude.
I was kind of dissappointed in the drive though, very rough drivetrain, and corner entry/exit is poor. Alot of play in the steering, and the chassis isn't very rigid at all.
If only we could of got the ACD and Super AYC from japan... then the evo would of really been a supercar... with all the final fixin's.
Let's hope we get the EVO MR edition here... I'll be the first in line to buy it.
