350Z to Evo?

The nissan dealer wouldn't even talked to me, basically told me I couldn't afford it. Oh the payment'll be like $600/month, blah, blah. So I just went to the Mitsu dealer a month later and bought the Evo (thank goodness).

I was dead set on a 350z, but the dealerships were just ****** for starters. They all gave me the "IF you dont buy it for MSRP, someone will" I let them stick with that, and then test drove an Evo just out of pissed off driven curiosity. I was hooked on the speed/tuneability and practicality the Evo has to offer.

I have a 350Z. I am totally happy with it and bought it because my family has dealerships and Nissan is one of them and Mitsu is not. My best friend has an EVO 8 and that's the only reason I am registered here. Anyways, the EVO is a cool car. I like that it is AWD and turbocharged. Also, power mods made will make a lot more power than a NA motor like the Z has. I am sure you all know that. But as far as aesthetics, I am quite happy I got the Z. As far as handling, I am very happy I got the Z. In anything aside from rain (I don't drive the Z in the rain) the Z is a better handler than the EVO. AWD is not better than RWD for handling if you know how to drive. Around high speed corners his EVO always starts to push (understeer) before my Z. We haven't really gone around many low speed corners yet. I am quite happy with my fit and finish on the Z. We have worked on the EVo and the Z and we both agree the Nissan is put together better than the Mitsu. The reason he got a EVO is about as superficial as my reason for getting a Z. His wife had an Eclipse to trade in and you know Mitsu's trade in program.
Anyways, anything above wheel spinning speeds my Z walks his EVO. If he has the opportunity to mad launch with AWD he will pull out on me until we get to 70 or so and I reel him in and pass by about 100. Overall, we both like each others car a lot. They are both great cars and they both have strengths and weaknesses alike. I question Mitsu's reliability over the long term (my friend also is highly suspect of Mitsu) but we both like both cars and have respect for both. Hopefully this is something that is exhibited at this website as well. After all, we are all auto enthusiasts!

Had a 350Z for about a year, sold it, got an Evolution. There's a couple other Z guys on here with Evolutions. I loved the Z, it was gorgeous, handled well, sounded gooood but I wanted to go faster

hmm I raced a Z when I was stock from 60-120 dead even. Also no z passed me on the track and I seem to catch them and pass them all in the turns and in braking zones. Wonder if you got a Super Z?

HMMMMMMMMM, Z better handler then the funny thing is the Evo turned Better numbers in EVERY HANDLING category the Z can not compete, but Looks Awesome, but Handles better, are you Nuts?

Z better handler, stock, now way, put down the pipe. Sorry, even if you know how to drive, you can't make up the difference. I went from an SC Mustang, with 7 grand in suspension mods and brakes, and the Evo was only 2 seconds slower per lap, after I altered the line a bit to compensate. Oh, and the Evo, was STOCK. How would you compare the Z to a say, Boxster S? No comparison, that's right, well, a Boxster S owner just this week, traded his in for an Evo, which he is getting ready to mod, because, guess what, it handled better than his RWD.
Don't get me wrong, there is a mystique to an RWD track car, and for all purposes, I think their is some romanticism there, a dance between driver and car, which if done right, can be fast, and which can truly demonstrate a driver's skill or lack there of, however, to come out and say a Z is better handler, after it out slamoned a Z06, is ludicrous. I drove TT z's for years, and raced one during that time, they are fun, and love to be modded, but stock to stock, the Evo will show give you a full view of the wing on open track day. So when you are at the track, running with your group, be prepared to hang you arm out and wave by the Evo, which WILL catch you, if you stay stock.

There was a used daytona blue track Z at the Nissan dealership with 4000 miles on it the day I bought my evo. They wanted $400 less than a new track z. When I brought up evolutions for under msrp the dealer said whats an evo? I still love the z but when my friend in his s2000 beats one with 200 lbs of penalty weight(me) in the passenger seat then there you go.

I think the Z has personally, migrated with the baby boom generation. It was sporty, then really high-end twin turbo, and then next thing you know, it is all posh with heated seats Bose stereo, etc. To me, a sports car is something, like the Evo, no bones, no crap, just car and driver. If you want a 'sporty' car, which can run the twisties on the BlueRidge parkway, then the Z may be for you, but again, come track day, i don't think, stock to stock and all other things equal, a Z could hang. Too much weight, not enough *****.
