I'd buy a GT3, an Evo, and an M3 over the GT2

GT3, while it has less horsepower than a Turbo (GT3 is non-turbo), the GT3 is lighter and does not have any silly electronic gadgets or driving aids.

Oh, BTW, I would choose the GT3 with the "Clubsport" option.

I'd buy the regular turbo only because the GT3 is basically a race car for the street so would be seriously harsh to drive on anything but the smoothest roads. For the real world the GT3 would be a bit too punishing for me.

For track use, definitely the GT3. I'd rather have the GT3 RS or RSR, but I guess I'd settle for the regular one Don't really need (or want) all that 4WD and Turbo hardware on a hardcore track car.

For the street, I guess the 996 TT would be better. Less dramatic handling and more mid-range power make sense in a street car that will see typical road use.

The GT2 doesn't really interest me as I don't think it justifies the huge price increase. A friend of mine (president of the local PCA chapter) has a GT2 which was his track car. He switched to the GT3 as it was more of a pure drivers car. Now his wife drives the GT2 (she's also a senior instructor with the PCA). Stay away from the ceramic rotors and save $20,000. He's had lots of trouble with them.

Why do you ask? Are you in the market.

Either I am in the market or I think I am in the market due to the delusion I've been getting lately because of the flu and fever I am having right now. A little drive with my Evo to pick up food seemed to reduce it somehow yesterday.

BTW, it seems that your friend chose the right wife. I have a friend here, who's also a hardcore Porschebanger. However, he has to settle for a tiptronic Turbo because wifey doesn't drive stick (and wifey wants to drive the car, too!).

I have read about a lot of problems with the ceramic rotors as well.

I pick the GT3.

GT3 is more of a bare bones sports car. I don't like the fact that it has the narrow Carrera body but oh well.

Turbo has the widebody with all the options to make it a really fast but comfortable daily driver.

GT3 = Simple, elegant, and high revving. Dare I say almost Zen (Japanese) like in philosophy?
