2jz-GTE 240sx build thread
Hey all this is my first build thread. I live in Austin Tx and am building a custom a 2jz-gte swap into a 1989 240sx. My main fabricator/mechanic is Marc(has 800whp 2jz in a Z31 300zx) at EMS Power (previously worked for boostlogic) he is wanting to do most of the work custom so this dosent look like another off the shelf 2j 240. I will update as I go.
Currenty I have a Q45 rear end(300zx TT rear driver side axel, q45 driver side axel, and a q45 diff) rated at 800whp, a 5 lug conversion, a off the shelf 2jz swap kit(mounts), and a R154 transmission with a 6 puck clutch. I am dropping some decent coin and getting a Motor, intercooler, custom radiator and fans, Bellhousing, wiring harness by tech2, and everything else to make the car run. The project time to get the car running is by X-mas. The next steps will be Feb(6766. aem, fuel, and piping or suspension and CCW wheels)
I have had other fun cars but I am very excited to work with a 2jz.
I know this isnt much but Ill be adding as I go!
Junk in the trunk...Some swap parts and a 1jz 6 puck clutch
New front cross member for 2jz mount
New tie rod, strut tower rod bushing, and control arm

Money for parts ordered 2jz, intercooler and radiator for v mount set up, Tial q bov, parts for a quick Fab exhaust(making a legit exhaust for single Turbo later on), areomotive fuel pump, flywheel, bell housing, and and fans for the radiator

Motor after waterpump and all seals
Beginning of powder coating and the first peek of my color scheme
Test fitting tires... this is how you put 800 to the ground(these wont go on for a while...it would be a waste)
Pic of motor in the car....will be coming out a few more times before it stays for good

Update time!!!
Went and spend the day at the shop with Marc and we got a few things done.(more BSing and running around for parts than anything else)
Subframe got dropped in the rear for the 5 lug/q45 conversion. While we were working on it I decided I should run up to SPL and grab some solid bushings for subframe and Diff.
It was the biggest headache of the day getting the old bushings out we finally had success!!
And the project got pushed back a bit more. Since we have to change the coilovers right away(the q45 hubs I have didnt have the same bottom mount for the shock) and all the SPL stuff(rear upper control arms, rear traction rods, rear toe arms, tension rods,a nd lockout kit) ended up being more than I thought. The Stance GR+ Pros will be ordered tomorrow. The projected end date will be end of January.
And to end on a bright note.

ANother small update. As you saw the other day we got the rear subframe back on...I felt the dirty undercarrige didnt do justice to the beautifull purple powdercoating. So we took the supbframe back out and cleaned it. Then, as always, thought he why dont we pull more things and powdercoat.... So Rear lower control arms, front braces(not sure of name but ill add pics later), the 3 front bars that go over the AC condensor, and most of the pulleys are all going purple. The rear subframe will be a black with some flake for ease of cleaning.
We also decided that we would spray bomb the engine bay and wait for a professional paint job till we are in the 8s-9s int he 1/4.
Rotors came in and here is a comparison
