evo 9 MR vs audi s5?
how do these cars match compare to each other?
i know if your comparing luxury then the audi wins for sure. But im pretty sure that the evo will outperform the s5 on the twisty kind roads because even though the s5 has the 354 hp 4.2 v8, it is very heavy compared to the evo. what about on the straights? will the stock evo 9 stand a chance against the s5?
if not then what would you expect the outcome to be if the evo was tuned to around 300whp or 330whp?
i was just worried about getting an s5 because if something breaks it is very expensive to fix and generally a much more expensive car to buy and to maintain.. so im just wondering how a much cheaper car (the evo 9 mr stock and tuned) will compare performance wise with the audi s5.
thank you.

Well with a curb weight of 4,000lbs with driver a 0-60 in 5.2s and a 1/4 mile in mid 13s I would say a stock evo can out perform that let alone a 330whp evo and on the twisties theres no comparison. The audi on the other hand its a luxurious car that i wouldnt mind owning it but on repair costs it would be insane, my brother had a 2004 Bmw 325 and he had to replace the power steering pump and a reman steering rack for $1,300! unless its on bumper to bumper warranty or extended id go for it.

They don't even compare. I own both... The audi is a pig.. Slow and not that quick. Its a nice driving car but I would not even put it in the same catagory as the evo. Not sure why people want to compare an NA car to an FI car..

Yes. Friend had an RS6 Audi and the maintenace was KILLER (main reason he sold it actually). I decided between an s4 and an Evo and am VERY pleased with the Evo compared to audi. Granted I have leather seats which helps the luxury part a bit. Audis are very nose heavy and will suffer bad in the corners. Not to mention the quattro is nowhere near as technical as ACD in the evos... But I did wish our cars came with heated seats. That's about it.

Not sure about this. My S4 was a beast on the track. With coils and proper tire set up the car went into the corners amazing. I miss the car but you are correct. THe parts and maintence was insane. Not to mention the turbos were garbage. I have a B5 S4. You had to drop the motor to even get to them. The evo is much more raw and is not a car I would want to drive across the country in. But as my daily driver I LOVE IT.. I have a long commute to work as well...

I am speaking more stock for stock. I am sure that with coils and a tire setup the thing will do decent on the track. Then again you take an evo put some soft plush springs on it and swap out those recaros for a lazy boy and I'd take it accross country anyday But you are right man, here in Sioux Falls there is a guy that autox his b5 s4 and it does decent, but the thing is slammed. Now when I say nose heavy I am speaking more for the b6 s4, although I believe the v8 in the b6 weighs less than the FI 4 banger in the b5. Now I'm getting off topic. I'll stop because I can't really speak for the s5. Ha Ha
