This thread is testament to why I don't get into discussion with BRZ/FR-S owners at my job. I just say "The car is great for what it is." While I agree that the car is slow, I'm certainly happy it exist because there was a void in the cheap car market for RWD cars.
Maybe, just maybe lower end base cars will start seeing rwd drivetrains w/ honda being the exception; I love how they make FWD work.
P.S. I wish Ford would bring the Focus RS here as that car makes FWD work very well too.

the success of this car will prompt more cheap light weight rwd cars. can't wait till nissan responds with the next silvia, and honda with the s2000 (although that one will prolly be more expensive, maybe some of the domestics will jump in on the action...

I think we already argued that $26-8k is not cheap. And there are other cars in that price range that are RWD.Safety? Hahaha. Nope. All for Darwinism. You want to drive without a seatbeat, top down, getting a lap dance and subsequently kill yourself and the dancer. Good on you. Less people for the rest of us.

$24k-$28k seems cheap to me. My co-worker bought one for his son, and decided he'd buy himself one because he wanted something other than his track e92. The fact that you can buy two for the price of one M3 seems cheap to me.

I'm just impressed that they can make that much power on the stock longblock. If the engine can hold up long-term to that kind of power I can see this becoming a very, very popular tuner car. Small turbo set to make around 300-350 HP and you have a nice little track monster.

Safe limits. That's an oxymoron. Did they take apart the block to see what the internal structures could hold? Mmm....LS would give the car some character.
One FRS was running TTD at Nationals this week. Watching it was just like driving it. Boring. Now, watching the TTC Miata was interesting. I am pretty sure he never hit the brakes or lifted throttle the whole time (FYI TTE is generally where Miatas fall...so he had a ton of mod points in the car). Took 1st in PTC too.
