drove the brz of the same color and agree with smike. I was ready to get out as fast as possible but the salesguy prepared a longer test route. I was like "I'm a celebrity, let me out of here!"

Too single dimensional.

It's like that pretty dumb blonde we all know. Sure, easy on eyes, but when you look close you see a lot of make-up, push-up bras, no brains, and the voice of Anne Ramsey.

It just lacks mojo. I raced low hp cars for years. They can have spunk and character.

Noize, you're older than I am. Put down the Fast and Furious DVDs.

And I though the 08+ Lancer and X had too light of clutches as well. Go out and drive a C5, 370, or Mustang. That's good clutch.

I'm with Jrod and Gene. Just lacks the "it" factor.

A Mustang has good clutch feel if you want to kill a fly with a dumbbell. I put an aftermarket clutch and heavy pressure plate in my VIII, and it made it feel like an 03 Cobra, which contributed to my losing interest in the car and selling it eventually. Just overwrought and awful for daily driving, IMO. I want a clutch that is light effort, drama free, and reliable. Three and a half years, 35,000 miles, and my X's factory clutch is working perfectly with 50% more HP than stock.

I haven't changed what I like in years, Smikey, you have. You traded in Lotus Love for a Cobra Crush.

Hardly. Doesn't change that the car was flat and boring inside and out.

There is a balance. Too light and you can't feel pick up. Too heavy and its a PITA to drive.

Lotus, Mustang, C5...all good balance and you can feel what the car is doing.

Nope, still love me Loti.

i resent that "ginger' comment...

as for your review on your test drive, i think we all saw this coming from the FR-S/BRZ. i believe it was road and track magazine that tested the car out, they claimed a better set of tires would wake this thing up, i can see handling wise but powerwise NO.

i think the car is nice to look at, they should have kept it looking more like the concept renderings. This thing would have been great if it came out in the late 90s when the 99-00 civic si and integra type R reined supreme. in current days trying to compete with evos,STIs, genesis coupe 2.0t and all the other newer cars coming out that will have forced induction, this car will be lagging behind performance wise....

as Smike said this will be the next hot car for teenage girls and youngsters who sag their pants trying to act like they have a vette slayer in their possession.. HAAAAAA

the only car out of those its competing with is the gen coupe, and the only thing that beats it at is power... and adding power is easier than fixing a sh*tty chassis

Genesis, Mustang (MPG and power and chassis -- go look at American Iron, ITR, AS, CMC...S197 is a very well sorted chassis), Miata -- tried and true.

warm - go drive one, see if you like it.

News to me.

Hyundai created the Genesis to compete with the BMW M3, and they did a damn fine job (especially in such a short amount of time and engineering iterations) looking at the lap times.

So, what you're saying is that this joint venture bastard car is supposed to be in the same class performance wise as an M3?

I find that somewhat hard to believe.

Are we in Bizarro world? Have you driven a Genesis coupe? It is a total shapile. Its heavy, doesn't handle well, and although its a highly disguised 4B11, the ECU tuning cripples it on upshift, and has a poor transmission.

On to the Mustang, I get that the 5.0 Coyote motor raises the S197 up a lot, but let's call a spade a spade. That chassis is heavy, solid axle, and terribly flexy. For easy proof, put a floor jack a foot behind the front wheel, raise the car up a foot (heck, maybe even 18"), and one wheel will be in the air, while the other three are on the ground. Do that in an FR-S or an Evo, and you'll pick up the entire side of the car.

A stock V6 Mustang, though, is a hairdresser's car, still complete with 112mph speed limiter even in the 2013 model.

The Miata leans and rolls way more than the older iterations did. It's a ragtop, and although very good handling, it's nowhere near as flat as an FR-S. Lesser power, and Mazdas are marginally built these days, with very low headroom for upgrade potential.

The FR-S is almost a full THOUSAND pounds less than a V6 Mustang, and 700 less than a Genesis coupe. The Scion's power is lackluster, but it kicks the everliving shat out of both of them in chassis dynamics. Unbiased (and un-fanboi) driving of all three cars will bear this out after the first high speed corner. It's a feather in transitions, and the Mustang and Genesis are pigs in comparison.

WUT?!?!?!

You need to check that data before jumping into this argument, sir. The Genesis doesn't hold a candle to the M3 in performance. At least not one built in this millennium.

it's not even competing with that ****box..... well price wise the FR-S is comparable a genesis coupe other then that, thats it.

I can see a aftermarket company throwing a turbo on the FR-S/BRZ and this thing would probably a popular car. until then it just sucks..

I hope you have an Rx for all that pot you seem to be smoking. The point of the Genesis was to fill a glaring void in the market = an affordable (in the low-mid $20s) and sporty RWD coupe - basically a poor man's Z. The Genesis could be great but as Seth pointed out Hyundai has really crippled it with a few bad decisions.

It's nowhere near M3 territory.
