Old thread, sorry, found it searching for something else.
We've got a '12 Rubi Unlimited (lifted, etc.).
We've had the head replaced (under a day turnaround, no stress). It mostly impacts the '12s and some '13s from what I've read. The '12+ motor is FAR more powerful than the -'11 V6's.
It does drink fuel... but the car is solid. We've just done oil changes and no real issues to speak of otherwise.
Of course, a fully loaded Rubicon stickers around $40k... so for your budget you're looking at a Sport (so crappier diffs, smaller tires, less interior baubles, less electronics, etc.).
