Just the Facts:

- The 2015 Ford Mustang is slated to get a fuel-efficient 2.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine
- The engine is based on the turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine featured in the 2013 Ford Focus ST.
- Engine output is likely to rise from 252 horsepower to 300 hp in 2.3-liter form, according to company insiders.

Can't quite believe that we're seeing an American muscle car icon with a turbo 4, but that's a sign of the times I guess. Still, 300HP is pretty damn impressive

I was on a panel about the next gen Mustang. Yes, they are leaning more and more towards turbo 4-cyl.

The turbo motor will be like that in the Evo 8 and 9...I bet we see fast turbo 4-cyl in the Mustang with the new generation.

Considering how robust the other Ecoboost motors seem to be I don't imagine it'll be hard for the Mustang to make some good numbers with the 4 cyl.

I was reading that the ecoboost will have around 350hp. sold as middle line up between base 300hp v6 and the V8's.

The 94 body style mustangs with the 4.6 V8 liters were rated at 215hp and people called "muscle car mustang GT". Todays 4 cylinder turbos put decent torque and HP. I am not surprised, plus the president passed the law/act about making all the manufacturers comply with a high hwy gas mileage rating of 35mpg or something like that by the year 2020
