Thoughts on a 335I
What are everyone's thoughts on the 2006-2009 335I. I've heard some horror stories about bad injectors and costly maintenance . Has anyone gone from their Evo to the Bmw?
I rode in a friends 2007 with a flash and about $1400 in mods and it was amazing. Good power/feel/shifting while driving it easy or flogging it. He also gets about 26-30 on the highway which is a plus.

I did a lot of research after I sold my evo about the 335i. If you jump into a N55 engine, you're better off since they fixed some of the issues that plagued that engine. Wastegates are now covered under tsb or recall. To my knowledge, the injectors, turbos, thermostat weren't. I believe the taillights were covered though. I personally hated the shifter. Also, there is no 06 335i. 07 was the first year.

I traded my 440hp/480tq 09 335i for this Evo 8 and cash. Dumbest thing I've ever done. I miss my bimmer so much. As soon as this Evo is fixed I'm getting another one vdont waste your time with a 2011+ n55. They are slow. N54 FTW. There are recalls that replace all the common failures.

Not a big fan of the 335i. It's a better daily driver then an Evo but so is an STI and I'd rather have the STI if I wanted something thats a pain to work on and only worth daily driving or stock class autox'ing. But that's just personal opinion from a guy who's owned just about everything and turned every wrench himself.

X2 335i over the evo for sure. Just make sure it's the n54 engine as he said!

I just loved my 07 335i with the N54 engine. First off the problem with these cars is the fuel pump software. BMW is replacing fuel pumps under warrant to 180,000 miles if you have a legit problem with it. I had mine with the UR downpipes, full flash with 18lbs boost, intake and the car just is a blast to drive. The difference with the Evo is the small twin turbos spool at 1500 so there is no down shifting needed for normal spirited driving just hit the peddle till it spools and 450lb tq are at tap. I say best car I ever owned for being a 4 door daily driver and best part is its low key. You are just another bimmer . I will get another one as I have not been happy with my other cars since . I found 2007 ones with 75k for about $18k .
If you purchase the BMW software you can clear all codes and do just anything needed with the ECU and engine management your self . Not hard like everyone thinks. In fact my Evo was more problematic than my 335i and parts are the same. I did everything myself and I am no technician. If you can run an Evo then a 335 is right up your ally.

IIRC the warranty was increased on all of those parts to 80k or 100k

love the N54 platform. 335i is ok but coming from an evo it does't feel as rugged and aggressive. I'd look into the 135i. Back when i had my evo i sold it for the 135i and loved it.
