That's the silliest thing I've ever seen. If you'll be basing your opinion of which car handles better on a single magazine review, at least pick a magazine that actually UNDERSTANDS handling! Like EVO magazine or something.

Handling is something you need to FEEL, not something you can use skidpad numbers and other bull**** to compare (like C&D loves to do). All modern Audis have no steering feel and overboosted brakes. That alone makes the car less fun to drive than an E46 M3, which gives you tons more feedback. Add a very understeery chassis and more weight and you're looking at a big difference in finesse bewteen the 2 cars...even if the S4 has marginally better cornering grip or whatever.

Hockenheim...No stock S4's were able to outdrive the M3.
Let's see a source.
You obviously haven't spent any time around a racetrack. Go to any BMW CCA or Audi club event and see which cars are fastest in the real world. The E46 M3's are always faster than the S4's.

The reason? You can actually exploit all the power and grip of the M3. It gives you so much feedback and is so poised at the limit of grip, that you can push it to its max lap after lap. The S4 is the opposite. Even if its limits are higher (and I don't know that they are) the driver can't push it to its limits confidently since feedback is lacking. Kind of like the Evo 8 vs STi!

Additionally, I think what put audi over the top in that test was cost. Before the points were factored in for $$$, it was m3, c32, then audi. Silly basis for asserting handling superiorty, but whatever...
