best scratch remover

I was wondering what everyone has used to get rid of the deep scratches you get. I have tried the meguiars scratch x and I worked at first but after a couple of hours the scratches were back and looked the same. I was looking at those duplicolor scratch fix pens and was wondering if anyone has used them and if they work. Open to any suggestions.

How deep is the scratch? If you drag a fingernail across it, does it catch? If it does, you probably need to fill it. If not, you may be able to hit it with rubbing compound or even a wet sand. If you're not sure what to do, take it to a pro. It's hard to diagnose over the web and with no pics.

Like shivers said if you can feel it with your fingernail, it likely won't buff out with over the counter products. What I like to do is go to an art store and buy the finest brush I can (~$4). Then go to a true automotive paint store (touch up pens are garbage) and have them mix up a small bottle of touch up paint (~$7). Then touch up the paint. Just remember don't brush the paint on, let it flow into the crack.

Good way to DIY here. Dr. Colorchip and other similar products are nothing more than paint and some fine rubbing compound.

If you want to give it a go, just "blob" the paint in and give it some cure time. Use an old t-shirt, some fine compound, and very light pressure to knock down the blob and level it with the surface. It's not difficult, it just takes time and patience. Some guys are really, really good at this. You can find vids and tutorials online. Good luck.
