We now have the advantage of hindsight to evaluate the success of the xB. It has done well in sales while targeting a niche market of younger buyers. The larger, softer-styled, and more powerful 2008 model should expand its market appeal and increase the sales volume. The best attributes of the xB are the low price, included features, it's economical to drive ($ per mile), and it's highly customizable.
I like how Toyota took another chance with Scion to target younger buyers, after the Echo miserably failed, while many other OEMs haven't bothered in any serious way. It stands out in a crowd of bland clone-mobiles.

Wow, I nearly forgot about this thread.

Cons:
2008 model is 3000-3100 lbs curb weight compared to the 2400-2500 lbs 06 model. Which I wouldn't mind if gas mileage don't go below the 30/34 they have in the 06 model my friend

I was talking mostly about the success of the current model to present. The 2008 will definitely appeal to more consumers. It will be 3" wider, 12" longer, with more cargo space and 55 more horsepower than the current model. Weight goes up with vehicle size, so it's unavoidable. I don't know what the gas mileage estimates are, but odds are that it will be less than 30/34; I'm guessing 25/30 ±1. Get a deal on a cheap '06 when the new one comes out.
