Here is the lemon list for 2004. I am suprised the Impreza is rated worst as I have had no problems with my WRX. Of course, I don't abuse and play F&F with my WRX or my EVO either.....

Even if all the evo's in america had a problem, there still probably isn't enough to make the list. (limited production)

does this encompass all trims of vehicle per vehicle listing? for instance, the impreza includes stis and wrxs? a4--the s4? etc, etc.

yeah, that's just pure volume so cars like the RSX and Focus which they sell tons of made that list even though the # of lemons compared to the overall # of cars sold may be far less than some cars who didn't even make the list.

It's a ratio based on complaints/cars sold.

The complaint index is based on a ratio of the number of complaints for each vehicle to the sales of that vehicle.

Complaints/cars sold would equal the number of complaints per car. 27K complaints per car is awfully high. It is either a raw number of complaints or it normalized to 10K per. It would still be hard to use it meaningfully until the sample size and pool were known. Is it all Imprezas ever built or just some model year.

Stats lie sometimes.

Relative ratio, I suppose. I figured it was normalized to complaints per 100,000 cars.

And I totally agree - the numbers are meaningless. There's no measure of meaningful or valid complaints; a lot of people complained about the S2000 (which has 4 straight years on the list) because they essentially bought the wrong car.
