test drive on a 05 Volvo S40 T5
I would like to share my experience with the new Volvo S40 T5 automatic 2005:
First of all, I loved the car in every aspect.
Off the line performance is superb due to double variable camshafts.
Comfort is marvelous, you don't feel the road imperfections.
The desing is good, but is very good considering that is a Volvo car.
Kick down is perfect and fast.
The sound quality is very nice.
The client assistance is marvelous, the sales man gave me the car for a weekend test drive.
Mid and High end power is enough and it seems that the car has more than 220Hp.
Steering feeling is ok, not as fast as the EVO but is ok.
The engine sound is nice
Overall I loved the car and I will buy one in a few months.
No! don't think that I will trade my EVO for a Volvo, this car will be my Mother's car.

220Hp
320NM of torque from 1500 to 4800
Variable rear suspension
Rain sensor
Multi-link rear suspension with variable direction
3150lbs weight
5speed geartronic automatic or 6speed maual
etc etc ect
Comparing with my EVO ( I know that these cars were developed in different ways) I can say:
Off the line performance without destroy my cluth: Volvo is better
Comfort: Volvo is better
Desing: My vote is for my EVO because it is more agressive
Mid range power: EVO
High end power: EVO
Client assistance: Volvo
Construction quality: Volvo
Race and agressive driving: EVO for sure
Daily driving = Volvo / Race and Agressive driving = EVO

i can say since i have owned a volvo although not this specific volvo that volvo cannot make anything (except for th S60 R) that is fast and well built. My friend has a C70 with all the options except for auto trany and at first loved it but soon hated it. In fact the last year of the lease, it hardly moved. (roughly 40 miles a month). It fell apart literally. Volvo which was at one time built like a tank is now as fast as one but built like cardboard. Ford has really degraded the brand. Oh well.
