I don't know anyone appreciate history as I remember them as a teen. Here's one a blast from the past . . . the first supercar. Callaway Sledgehammer.
You want to see how insane the speed for a old C4 corvette.
BTW: long article.

the Sledgehammer ruled!
800+ HP - enough said
I have always been a big Callaway fan, but I am still disappointed that they never built the C7. The C7 was to be Callaway's first attempt at building a full car, and not building off of a chassis from GM. The prototype with AC, PW steering, stereo, ABS etc weighed less then 2400 lbs - less then a miata. under the hood was a natually asperated V8 bored out to almost 6.5 L. Almost 600 HP. It would have come out about a year before the McLarren F1, but for an unknow reason the project was scrapped. It would have had the best power/weight ratio of any car in the world... Anyone else remember this beast? I know it was featured in R&T and some other mags...

Here's another link on the demise of the C7. Rule chances from FIA.
Callaway has a way shaping a vette that makes it sleek and sexy, unlike GM's vision of roundness on the C5 Vette. Nevertheless, you can still tell the distinctive styling cues of the vette.
Unlike the Saleen supercar, that doesn't even look like a 'stang at all.
