The thrill at Road America is hitting the apex of a corner just perfectly, being on the power as you just start to enter the corner, and flying into a 90deg corner at 130mph and hoping your brakes still work when you see 5 and 4 pass you and you go to stand on them.

Also, knowing you're running on a track that the big boys run on... (champ cars, lemans, etc)

Having been on Shawano and RA, I'd take RA in a heartbeat. Shawano is an autox track w/ elevation changes. (still better than autox though)
You hit 130 through a 90deg turn but only made it up to 128 on the back straight???

Hitting a turn in point and apex just right is the same at any big track. Except at somewhere like Gingerman, you have to get one turn right to have any chance of getting the next one right. For example, screw up 7 and you'll screw up 8 & 9 too, possibly 10 depending on how much of a hero you tried to be.

Because the Champ cars run on RA doesn't particularly make me want to go there. It'd be like taking a Power Wheels around Shawano because that's where the big carting boys run.

I'm really not trying to knock RA, like I said before it's a track I really want to run. But I just think it's going to be a lot of sitting around with your right foot planted waiting for the next turn to show up. I actually got that feeling at Blackhawk a little down the back straight.

No no... hitting 130 going down the straights, and tryin to slow down in time to MAKE the next turn. That's where the rush comes in.

It is a lot of the right foot planted around the track, but a lot of the skill comes from finding your way around the track so you can make it the entire 20 minute session without melting your tires or cooking your brakes. That's where the major part of figuring the track comes in.

And as those changes start to occur, a lot more focus is needed, due to taking a corner like the carousel at 80 with tires going away, or braking into turn 5 with a slightly mushy pedal gets your heart racing.

Shawano Video!

Ok, here is one of the videos from Shawano on the 16th:
http://www.theschafs.com/nick/racing..._Nick_full.wmv
This is the video from my in-car camera and includes Pete's tailpipe barbeque, Alex pretending he's a drifter, and some other cool stuff.

The video from Pete's in-car camera is uploading right now.
