I think some people forget about the engineering that goes into a Skyline.... everything from the RB26 motor to the ATESSA control. Those alone are reasons you pay so much for the car.

On a side note, if you can afford the car you probably would have another nice daily driver anyways. Its a little bit harder to justify cost when your a younger Evo owner just getting buy. Its like the ignorant people that say "why buy a ferrari? my car cost a 1/4 as much and would smoke it."

I agree with you, the skyline is probably worthy of its parts to make it $70,000. Its the $10,000 mark up dealers are already talking about applying to it and the sticker price isn't even set yet. Its the people that buy them with the mark up that are paying to be the elite.

Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgOV9-s2dIw

The director grew up in my hometown and his brother has a role. They both are friends of the family, his brother and mine we pretty tight until high school. I was out last new years ended up running into him and talked for awhile and he didn't even bring it up.

NSXs are a good example and so are older skylines. Why theyre elite cars, are different stories. Why I bought my Fit, and why I bought the EVO and why I would buy a new skyline is for all the same reason.

They are b*tchin JDM cars that have been brought over to the US because of people like us.....and gran turismo

Here's the thing with a Skyline, especially the R34s. Sure you could buy a S4 & a Evo for a price of a R34, but you'll never come close to getting your money back.

In 3 years, those two cars combined would not re-sell for what you could sell the Skyline for. Skylines simply hold there value much better than a Evo, S4 or 85% of the cars available in the US.

That is the only reason, I would consider getting one, as even if you didn't put a ton of money into it, you could still re-sell for close to what you bought it for.

Even when the new GTR comes out next year, they still will be in demand asthe new ones will be very different....

They are just in a different class, because they are so rare & someone will always want one.

Nez - Go for the white one. If not, I know some more that are out there & yes they are legal.

I guess it all comes down to personal preference

I plan to run my car into thre ground, fix it, and run it into the ground again.

Personally i would rather take my evo, invest 20k into a stroker, gt37r, meth, shep tranny, ralliart LSD, etc and still have about 60k left!

So I'm going to do another trip to the Dragon this year with my brother. Probably before summer or at the end of.

Just throwing it out there for now, no solid plans. I just know I have to go again.

I think it cost like $100 in gas one way..depending on how I drove, but did about 80mpg the whole way there.

I prefered to stay in a decent hotel so I'd stay in the new Hapmton or Holiday Inn Express in Cherokee which were like 80-90/night. (obviously cheaper if you split with a guest.)

Then, any money you'd want to spend at night at the Casino or on food and such.

...oh yeah, prolly another $100 on gas while there.

I was thinking taking a Friday,Monday,Tuesday off so it would be 5 days. Drive down Friday all day. Spend Saturday and Sunday there and drive back Monday and have Tuesday to rest/hang out.

Kaizie and I spent 3 days down there last time outside of travel time and it was almost too much just because there isn't much to do other than driving...which is fun...but all day for 2 days is rough.

There would be plenty of notice on timing too cause my bro needs a couple month lead time.

I'm thinking like late May maybe...just cause I hate it when it's hot.
