Milwaukee - America's Drunkest Evo Owners
I always thought the ford GT and the ford GT-40 were the same car, with "GT" just for a short name like "evo".
Because when i think of both of them, i know they are both the newer ford supercar that has a mid engine and usually has two racing stripes stock.
BUT when i think about it i thought i saw a version that was more to race/track specifications- with a rear diffuser, big rear wing, modified front bumper and air dam.
Someone clarify - because i thought and think i am right abt the gt and gt40 being the same.....yet until about a week ago i thought a Saleen Explorer didnt exist! (which it does)
Just for laughs the saleen explorer

The gt 40 was fords old supercar from the 60's. they don't own the name gt 40 anymore so they couldn't use it for the latest car. If you came across an original gt 40 for sale it would cost in the millions.

I think i am confusing them because of the similar styling...look at the pic below Its definately based off of the gt40 with all the body lines.
its weird, even when you google image or altavista gt40 it comes up with the newer ford GT.
Pic of the new ford GT (front) and old GT-40 (back)

On of the bigger differences between the GT and the GT-40 other than rarity is the actual size. The original GT-40s were tiny cars so when ford re- introduced the concept as the GT the size jumped about %40.

Ya you would get major style points if you got to drive a GT-40, as previously stated with a race history they are worth Millions. But both very cool cars.

That track I was at in Salt Lake two weeks ago, has a 3 day driving school that consists of class time and track time. first day is spent with a 350 horse GT Mustang. day two is with their spec GT mustang, and the third day, Is with the Ford GT. How cool is that for $7900.00?

IMO, I would take the new Z06 over a ford GT any day of the week, its half the price and it stomps it in every performance category. The GT looks awesome in person but its just not up to par with the performance. (being that I've seen both up close I'd still take the zo6 for looks). I guess if you have the money and dont care then the GT is a good buy but if your in the market for a Domestic supercar that is worth the good money spent than the Vette takes the cake.

There is a lady in my department that has logged 133+ hours of sick time this year...WTF!!! That's almost the same amount of vacation time I have.
