Hey guys, got a quick question...

A friend of mine with a 98 GST just got royally owned by Griffin. The car was leaking oil badly (about a quart a week) so he took it in. Griffin started off by saying it would cost him about $500 to fix. After about a week, it increased to $950.

Long story short, he paid them for the work they did, and now it's worse. When he took it back in, Griffin told him that it wasn't their work that caused the issue so he's SOL.

Now his heat and AC doesn't work. He's blowing white smoke out of the back of his car at times and now he's losing 2 quarts of oil a week.

Can someone here take a look at his car for him? -or- Could anyone provide a reputable shop in town here that's not going to screw him over with labor charges? He doesn't have a problem with paying for repair costs, but he does have a problem for paying someone to A. Not fix the issue and B. make things worse.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

-T

I am hating this flipping EVO9 gearing!

Gear . . . . AWD DSM. . . . . . . EVO VIII. . . . . . . . EVO IX. . . . . . . . EVO MR

1st . . . . . 34.4 (3800) . . . . . 40.0 (4700) . . . . 42.1 (4900) . . . .39.8 (4700)

2nd . . . . . 62.8 (4650) . . . . 60.1 (5150) . . . . 60.1 (5200) . . . .59.6 (5200)

3rd . . . . . 94.8 (5250) . . . . . 83.2 (5150) . . . . 81.1 (5300) . . . .80.8 (5350)

4th . . . . . 126.9 (5600) . . . 113.6 (4900) . . . 106.9 (4850) . . . .105.3 (5500)

5th . . . . . 158.7 (N/A) . . . . 162.7 (N/A) . . . . 153.9 (N/A) . . . . .133.7 (5600)

6th . . . . . N/A (N/A) . . . . . . . . N/A (N/A) . . . . . . N/A (N/A) . . . . .167.1 (N/A)

The car ran a 106 stock w/flash. With more boost, race gas, and TBE I have to reach for 5th every time I race someone. What a bunch of crap! I suppose you MR guys have the same gripes since its even worse for you! Tossing it into 5th gear just feels all wrong.

My plans were to put the bottle on this car but I'm not sure I want to be spraying a 75 shot in 5th gear.

The number indicate the RPM at which you enter the next gear.

well then i'm thouroughly confused. is the speed number the speed at that RPM, or max speed in gear. if max speed in gear, what RPM does it indicate. from my logs when tuning, we were doing fourth gear pulls we were getting like 108 at 7200 RPM. and at the strip it cooberated that too. 12.69@108

it really doesnt matter, I must be just DEE DEE DEE today or somthing.

The speed is the top speed in that gear...... the rpm reflects the entry point of the next gear.

Example: When going into 5th gear at 106.9 I will enter 5th gear at 4850 rpm.
