so, how much of a difference does the hood vent make? i just noticed a crack in mine, across the center spine. besides keeping water and small debris out, is there anything else it does??

Probably aids somewhat in highspeed cooling at the expense of low speed cooling.

I think most people on here have it removed with no problems.

This is just bizaar. Dave Richards was involved in a helicopter crash today. For those who don't know, Dave Richards runs prodrive, the team Colin McRae won the world rally championship for.
