Buy a winter beater and drive whatever you want in the summer. Last year I picked up a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I love driving it especially on really crappy days. Quadra drive V8 with snow tires and heated seats!!!
Hella more fun to drive than a notchy shifting EVO with terrible winter ABS and it gets about the same mileage too. These days you can pick up a higher mileage excellent condition 4wd truck for less than $8k.
I used to have a ranger (which you can get dirt cheap) it had plenty of power and would go through anything. Mileage sucked and it was really only good for two people but still a great winter beater. If you've never had a 4WD truck its a ton better in snow than any AWD car. The SUV as a ton more creature comforts than the truck but if you are looking only for a beater then a 94-99 ranger is a great choice. They run forever and take a serious beating.

The problem is i would either have to keep my car, and get a winter car....or use the money for the winter car to voer the difference in trading in my car to get a Evo 9. I would probably part out my car a bit though, definately if i take it to a dealer. That would get me some $, which i could put towards a winter car ...or towards parts for the evo 9.

I got the allseasons on- the conti extremes, they work so-so. anytime i boost over 1psi in snow all 4 wheels start spinning. winter ROAD driving is usually under 5psi-it sucks.
not as much as it sucks not to drive at all right now! i go get a walking cast tomorrow, i might be able to drive by the end of the weekend-gotta ask the doc. Last day i drove was the day before my surgery, which was three days before it snowed first.
