Honestly, I've had a plethora of turbo's in 8 K miles:
Evo VIII
3076 internally gated
3076 externally gated
Evo IX
3065
For me, the one that I enjoyed the most it was hands down the IX turbo. EWG was just obnoxious and it was loud. I think if I had to do it all over again I would have gone with a green and been happy though.

really, when comparing data from my 30r to my hta i was pissed that i even wasted my time with the 30r.
for me its
red
hta 35r
next step after that is whatever you want to make it down the 1/4 mile faster with.
i personally wouldnt waste my time again with the stock like turbos, but im very biased towards my hta 35r

With supporting mods the RED will put you in mid 10 territory, still be road race worthy, and enjoyable to daily drive. I don't see how a 10 second street car with next to no lag could be a bad thing. Going any faster pretty much requires you to run slicks and take away from the function of the vehicle. With the RED you could run 10s at GLD then drive up to Shawano and hang with the best of them.

mark my words if a red is faster than my 35r on my setup i will switch to it and pay jeff $100.
the truth is you read too deep on internet forums. yes the red has gone fast, but the hta 35r has gone way faster. there isnt a doubt that the red is a good turbo, but it isnt as fast as the hta 35r. my turbo is a 9 second turbo, the only reason im not making more power is bc i maxed out the 3.5 map sensor so chris had to stop at 33psi when he could have probably gone to close to 40 (laak was there he would vouch for me). oh yea did i mention my head is bone stock wit hks 272's?
i could hang at shawano, i dnt have the cash to race at the moment. i also am getting my head gasket done at the moment. my car doesnt lag much.
that last visit to the strip was my 3rd time drag racing in my life with worn tires that have 30k miles on them. you go buy a red and we will line up, i promise i will blow your doors off

Yeah, nez was more worried about the ignition going bad and we both forgot about the MAP sensor being important to the AEM
I think his current setup has even more in it.
