Rant of the day. So i'm always surfing youtube war vids and what not and sometimes i'll take the time to read the comments that people have left. I have one question, Alex maybe you can help, Why are the british so f'in salty at the US. Any video that I watch that has something paying respects to US troops is spammed by UK guys *****ing about how americans are a bunch of pussies, our economy sucks, we've never won a war, bla bla bla.
Its not just one or two channels, I see it ALL over youtube. It kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth for European's

I should elaborate. There is more to it with the war etc, but at a very simple level there is an inferiority complex in the UK, there is a large number of people that when they see someone succeed, rather than work to mimic that success they would rather drag that person back down.

It's not everyone, probably not the majority, but a large number of people that feel like that. Remeber that the stupid tend to shout the loudest.

The US is a large scale version of that successful guy.

It really is pathetic.

I'm spamming this thread now. But part of it probably comes from a culture difference. Modesty is an important trait in the UK, and patriotism is very important over here.

So all the flag waiving, covering everything in stars and stripes, national anthem, America is the greatest nation that Americans see as being patriotic, people from other countries can see it as being boastful.

Think of America as being basketball and UK as being baseball. Both very competative games. In basketball if a guy dunks over someone else he will talk trash and it is seen as his right to. In baseball if a guy hits a homerun he would be criticized if did much more than stick an arm in the air on his way around the bags.
But mostly I think it's jealousy.

That's actually a great anology...the baseball/basketball thing.
