A set of decent tires for the GTR - $1,616
Average price of a set of comparible tires on the G37 + S2K - $970
Front brake pads for the GTR - $705
Average price of front pads for the G37 + S2K - $329
I would imagine that oil changes are about the same across all the cars. I've heard clutch replacement in the GT-R is going to be in the $7k range. I would guess $1,500-$2,000 for either the G37 or the S2K.
Nez, you are right, you could offset a lot of the cost by having a cheap to maintain daily driver and only driving the GT-R on weekends. But I can't see many owning a civic daily and a GT-R toy. At best I would think the daily driver would be a G37 type car in which case you are comparing the maintenance costs of an S2000 straight up against the GT-R.
Don't get me wrong I think the car is a beast, I would absolutely love to drive one. But I would never want to own one if I was still working hard for my money.

I was going to go with the GF tonight.
Since we've never met, and I don't think Alex or Nick will be there (the only people I know), I'm the guy with red hair

I'm not entirely decided since I've been sick all week, but I'll try to make it.

Garth and Ryan, it's nice meeting you guys out at BW3 tonight.
It was fun to talk cars. I think Beth tuned out for a bit, but she did appreciate the fact that I don't often get have those kinds of conversations. I'm a teacher, the parking lot here is full of Saturn's & Kia's
Nice Evos too...when we were leaving Beth said, "Why doesn't anyone want to see my car?!"

Good meeting all of you too. Garth- I hope we didn't bore her to death with the Evo talk.. at least she seems to appreciate cars (and drives an SI). Congrats.
Sorry I didn't stay to check out all of your rides. Hopefully next week. I wasn't lovin' the freezing rain with no coat last night
