Mine is a fun weekend car too... just in a different location.

Your old 6 speed is actually being disassembled by Jon @ TRE as we speak.

Maybe it was the blue-green molasass crap you were using as transmission fluid.

Mine broke at 16,000 miles. Consider yourself lucky.

Just a helmet is fine. I'll be bringing a case of water, cold cuts and other stuff for lunch like the previous years.

Yes shawano is a small and slow track, a go-cart track as matter of fact. But don't take that lightly, its still fast enough to flip a car, busted lips, taking down fences.

For me Shawano is frustrating unless on race tires..... and yes every time I've gone there someone managed to take out a fence.

The Madison Sports Car Club has an HPDE at Blackhawk on the 23rd of May. I am planning to make that event. I'm not sure that I could fit in RA on the 25th but I will give it some thought especially if Nez decides to go. I really think it would be better for him to do the BHF event first though.

I'd agree about BHF farms for Mr. Pinky. Especially w/ that kinda power...

Why only if Nez goes? I don't count for anything?

We'll see what Laps, Inc. says about pricing. What they have on their website is crazytalk.

thanks for the kind words friends

I would agree the BHF would be a better event to start at. I just paid off my CC today and i have some money to play with. I will need brakes and tires first before i do a track day, COP ignition will be ordered in a couple days so thats a Gnote gone...suggestions on brakes and tires?

I also need to replace a leaky crank seal before I do anything...Nick! help a brother out.

Which BHF event are you guys referring to? I think that I too may need to start out a little easier and / or spectating for the first one. My wife would kill me if I rolled the daily driver at the track .

Start with some street tires. Don't waste your money getting slicks.

Azenis RT-615's are great and cheap.

Brakes... for the power you're making you will have some crazy speeds if you really give it to her, so you'll want to get some decent stuff.

You could get away with almost any rotors, although the cheaper you go, the faster you'll have to replace them. (ie: stock blanks would last you MAYBE the event, that's it)

Get some SS lines if you don't have them.

Motul RBF600 fluid - complete flush if you have stock fluid.

Pads... well, there's a ton. After going through a LOT of pads (Road America is probably the hardest track on brakes in the country), I really like the Hawk DTC-70/DTC-60 combination. But you could probably get away with the next step down.

Out of curiosity, do you run these on the street too, or change them everytime? Any issue with having to warm up, etc.?

*cringe*

Absolutely not. It's flat out painful to run them on the street.

For anything really more intense than AutoX, you will need a set of pads you can change out at the track if you drive your car to and from.

Plus the fact that the DTC's need to be heated to work properly, and create a lot of caustic dust when wet out.
