If there is something going on on the 18th I'm going to change the day I go. My goal is to go on the least crowded day possible.

Hehe thanks. I still don't think the result had a whole lot to do with driving. I got lucky with you guys switching my heat.

It's still a crazy amount of fun though, and makes the winter without my s2k a lot more bearable.

Looking at helmets and was thinking about the following:

http://soloracer.com/bellmag4.html

Any input on other models or open vs. closed face units?

That's the helmet I've been using for a couple of years. Pegasus in New Berlin sells them so you should be able to at least try it on and see if you like it.

I like my open face helmet but you look like a dork with a bowling ball head wearing one if that kind of thing matters to you.

Yeah at the end of the event they said they are planning on a day event next Sunday. I don't think I'm going to be able to make this one though.

I'm looking forward to the next one as well! The open lapping at the end last night improved my confidence a lot (maybe the track conditions were just better too).

MikeMAN: I would suggest a good fitting open-face helmet. I got my full face incase I needed one for any other motorsport, and it was cheap ($99). It's really hot though, even in the winter, and the proper fit is 'snug'.

Yeah, it's the Subie, but if this video from Sunday doesn't make you want to go ice racing, nothing will: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoxHqD1HcOw
