^ That thing looks pissed off! How much grip does it have? Do you think its more or less than sticky tires on pavement?

Are those 1in studs? They clear the wheel wells pretty well. I'd thought they'd scrape against the fender or so.

Have any of you studded "studs" have perforated fenders yet?

first off, mine are not sharpened yet, so overall I'd have to say no. after they are sharpened it'll be close. Studs are weird, you have more grip going sideways than keeping the car straight. acceleration and braking are not the best, but you can throw this car into a corner and hold on. The only kind of driving i can compare it to his driving on gravel but with 3x more grip. Come out to dubay Friday night, I’ll take ya for a ride. They will be sharpened by then too.

yes 1in bolts with 2 washers are the inside and one on the outside. check the fvscc.com forum. we have an excellent write-up on studded tires. I was also concerned about it ripping out my fender liners. That’s why i want with a 225/45-17. just a bit smaller tires. i also jacked up my coilovers about an inch. no rubbing at all. I was very pleased!

I think 2 years ago a friend ran his evo with the drywall screws. he ended up ripping out a fender liner. He was also using a 245-45-17 and had lowing springs which he couldn’t raise it up.

closer look:

Ya I could see me doing this and my luck I would have all sorts of "outy" punctures through fender, hood, oil cooler ripped apart and HID bulbs exploded because of shrapnal. LOL

I wanna do this it looks like soooo much fun.

a few guys now have done the bolt method with great luck. The best part is, they hold air. I haven’t had to add a single pound of air since mounting them.

Doesnt take too long either, 2 late nights, $150 worth of bolts, some old summer tires. Best investment I've evAr made! SO much fun. come to an FVSCC event, I'll take ya for a ride.

I was literally laughing at my desk as I read this and imagined the mess... all those little "outy" dents.
