Just remember Ryan, you have to bed the pads until they fade...

Which contradicts the purpose of high performance brakes. lol

Yeah I emailed Carbotech this morning for a little more info on that... I was hoping they'd never fade! LOL

you wont fade carbotechs. you'll boil fluid probably before you hit fade on those.

the grease will help a little bit, otherwise man it up!

see ya at shawano, we'll see what kind of lap times the new sway bar and brakes will do.

Yeah, looking forward to Sunday. I don't think the brakes will help much there, as Shawano never degraded the Hawks. The brakes (and fluid) are to prevent another incident like at Blackhawk where they fade/boil completely on a big track. RSB might help .01%. We'll see

Now that they are bed-in, there might be enought room to wedge the shims back in there.

Andy: did you put the stock shims in with your Carbotech pads? I was having a hell or a time trying to get the clearance from one of the pistons to get both the shims back in.

yup i used the stock shims, however this was with a set of rotors that have seen a full set of Feroddo 3500 brake pads. I'm willing to bet with newish rotors you'd have a hard time utilizing the shims.

That reminds me, I should probably replace my rotors soon. They were slotted, but have worn down soo much now that they look like a solid blank rotor.

Actually, I might not be able to make it up to shawano again this time because of my new employee.

I think I can make it out to the SCCA autox at miller park with the Lexus running in rear wheel drive street tire.

^ It seemed like a bunch of people have posted they were interested in racing/performance driving. This would be a great way to get track time and pick up some skills.
