new L2 is also on DIE cache, i believe that started around p4, where as the p3 still werent on the same die..
as far as graphics go, even in HD xbox 360 the highest resolution you can get is 1920x1080 (which is 1080p), and computers have been able to do that for a while, but what makes an even bigger difference is the smaller dot pitch of monitors, much sharper pictures because of smaller pixels..and PC's can ALSO add very high levels of anti-aliasing (i believe around 8x) where as i think the highest 360 title is 4x maybe, and also anisotropic texture filtering which makes textures look VERY Good, and can run up to 16x on that.....but i am not doubting the 360's capabilities, it is the first console i would purchase and actually play in a LONG time...its a super powerful machine and in HD....gives people wood and makes the panties DROP!

So which cpu is better then?
I've never accually saw a cpu setup that could run something that high. Usually when you start going into the 4x AA games start running slow.. The tv-out on the pc cards is also terrible. Maybe I haven't had a good enough card, or rather brand.
For what you get with xbox is well worth it.

I want to upgrade from a amd barton 3000+ 400mhz fsb setup to either a:
Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (2.2GHZ L1 Cache: 128KB+128KB L2 Cache: 2 x 512KB)
Opteron 165 (1.8GHZ L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB L2 Cache: 2MB)
I'm not sure which cache makes more of a difference. For ram I was either going to get 1gb of the lower latency or go with 2GB...again I don't know what will make more of a difference. I wanted a notebook but this pc is giving me issues and I need a better spare for web dev. There should be more dual core choices out soon anyway.

Oh Ryan, I went back to get gas myself and I calculated 16.5 mpg on my last fillup! That's what I get for letting my car warm up every time before going for a late night drive.
Only a couple times did I get lest than 23 mpg on my Integra. Hmmm, I think the large turbo may be the culprit.

well i havent seen any gaming benchmarks of the opteron, as its more of a server processor but im sure it is plenty fast. but the games slowing down is a video card issue (cpu helps, but gpu is doing most of the work) so u just need to get a good one. i run battlefield 2 at 1680x1050, 6x AA, 8x anisotropic and it looks amazing. i know tv out quality is pretty horrible on some cards, but my LCD is a 20" widescreen with DVI, so the settings, colors, sharpness cant be adjusted (since its digital, 1's and 0's cant be wrong) and it looks amazing and much sharper than a typical d-sub RGB cable.
nice pic josh, nice car ry..
