Fireball, I'm bringing my piece of isht in tomorrow for a quote. I'm excited (and embarassed) to bring it in to see what they say. I got a quote tonight, so I'm interested to see the comparison. Keep an eye open and come say hello

Didn't that car have a whole bunch of mods on it before you bought it?

What all mods do you have on your car? Possibly a warranty work?
Do you JUST have a TBE? Then it should be covered under warranty.
Careful what you do to check it... if you dig into it too much, they won't even look at it.

i'm sure mike is probably trying to figure **** out with his car....but from what i remember him telling me when we took a ride, all he has was the tbe.......i think the original owner had an aftermarket turbo on there, blew the engine once already, put the original turbo back on....something along those lines......not sure if it's still the repaured engine or a new one since that incident.....but i'm almost positive just the tbe is on it now.....

From the sounds of it, it really seems as if the turbo has taken a sh|t, i have had enough DSM knowledge in my day to know these things. Pop, white smoke outta the hood, oil everywhere... I would start with the turbo...if not then prepair for the worst.

diagnosis: hole in side of the block, so i dunno if detonation or what caused this? i had my oil changed by my brother at metropolitan motors (you may have seen him stop in at parts fireball for a filter + crush gasket). i checked the oil when he was draining it and there werent metal shavings etc (i have been checking this after seeing so many bearing failures)....right now im just trying to stay happy, as i was just building up backup funds to keep up with tires/brakes/getting ready to move out...and now this.....last thing i needed right now.....damn...
whos got a shortblock?
