high octane gas in MN
The station near the old Honeywell Hopkins plant is called McCoy's gas; (next to an Oasis gas station) just west of the corner of Blake road (street) on 2nd avenue. They usually carry a super premium gas. So does the Texaco station in Wayzata just off the intersection of 101 and Wayzata Blvd. and a Texaco station on County road 9 and 169 next to the Burger King; both carry racing gas and super premium gas. There is another McCoy's in Delano, on Hwy. 12, just before crossing the Crow river.

Kath over in Roseville (right off of 694 and rice st) has 104 unleaded and I think like 112 and a couple of other leaded octains. There is also a 76 station in Maplewood right on Century and 7th st (east side of north st paul) that also has 104 unleaded.

There is also a Texaco station off 169 and Rockford Road in Plymouth that sells 100 unleaded and 110 leaded gasoline. The station is just west of 169.

Yeah. Try to steer clear of the 110 octane as it's always leaded, and that would not be good for these cars. The highest octane you'll proabably be able to find in unleaded is around 103 or 104. That's expensive ****e, though. Here in Michigan, there are very, very few places where you can get 104 from the pump. Most Sunoco's have 94, though, which is fine by me. In fact, that's what I put in my car yesterday!

Holiday gas is loaded with ethanol - highest percentage of all other stations as I can recall. Ethanol gives less bang for the buck vs "pure" gasoline - physical chemistry 101. In my ML (blue EVO is due at the end of July), there is a very noticable gain in mileage whenever I travel in northern MN where ethanol is not used. Granted my normally aspirated ML's V8 has a much lower compression ratio then EVO, I would still expect to see ethanol's detrimental effects on EVO performance. Do you guys concur?

Yeah vr430, I was kinda thinking that too. That's why I'm currently trying some 92 from McCoy's. So far it seems that my car is not as potent. It's hard to tell though...

I hit the Plymouth Texaco tonight and did 11 g of 92 & the rest (about 2.25 g) in 100 unleaded. Haven't had a chance to go play yet, but so far it feels a little stronger. Nothing to write home about, but better then the ethanol laden Holiday gas I usually run (there is a Holiday not 1 mile from my house & Texaco is a 10-15 min drive)

Holiday gas does have a lot of ethanol and detergents in the gas. So even though its 93 octane, it isn't going to help your car perform any better than 92 octane at other stations. There are some gas stations in the Twin Cities that use no ethanol, but I don't know where they are.
I do know of another gas station that sells 100 unleaded. There are some "pay at the pumps" at Kirsch oil company in Dayton. Its just off County 81. The 100 unleaded is only $2.99 a gallon. Thats the cheapest I've seen in the Twin Cities. This place really isn't a gas station. Its an oil company that has some pumps there. No convience store or cashier, just pumps. Thats probably why its so cheap.
