Stolen Evo 9 Add to the list

They broke the rear door passenger side corner window to enter the car. In cabin they ripped apart the key ignition and unplugged the ECU.
Strange thing is they used black duck tape to cover the broken window.
They used gloves and left a pair inside. They appear to be very similar quality to what the mechanics use at dealerships or body shops (light blue). Sure anyone can buy them but in my mind this tells me something...
I had my tactrix cable in my glove box which they took and my radar (Escort X50). However i had the power wire for it rigged hidden through the dash and they weren't able to pull it out because the end got jammed.
Is it possible to tune an ECU to run without the immobilizer box and to just plug it on another car and take off? My friend was telling me thats how they steel old honda's because the ecu you would just easily plug out and plug in and take off...
Maybe we should start pulling out certain fuses when parking in uncertain locations. Just a thought...
I dont think I will post pictures because most likely the thief is here enjoying the read.
Now i still wonder why all the effort put into this just to ditch it. Did they:
-Have a time constraint?
-Have a friend that can check recent stolen car reports made?
-Get spotted and ditch the car?
I have an AEM wideband and DEI systems boost controller and they left it in tact. Easily they could have just pulled out the gauge and gotten replacement accessories at a cheap price.
Doesn't make sense... The police dispatch that called me, they told me that it was found because neighbors called it saying that kids were messing around the car?
