Looking for help re-installing my timing belt...
Here's the deal... I had the 60k service done by a local garage because I was lazy and didn't really have time to do it...
Long story short--- They did not tighten the crank bolt and the crank timing plate took out my crank sensor.
Car died on the road and I had it flatbedded home...
I have a lift in my garage so it's easy to work on...
I have the car apart and ready to re-install the timing belt but the oil pump/front balance shaft paint marks do not line up when the screwdriver is installed in the hole by the downpipe.
Should the screwdriver go all the way into the block when the marks from the oil pump sprocket and the mark on the block line up... or do I need to pull the screwdriver out to get the marks lined up?
This deal is confusing to me and I'm looking for some help from an expert.
Maybe even coming over and walking through the complete belt re-install with me... (I'd pay $$$ for your time)...
I HAVE NOT TRIED TO DO THIS UNSUCCESSFULLY.lol. I want to do it correctly so nothing is damaged.
Thanks---
Tom
UPDATE!!!!!!!
ALL BACK TOGETHER, UP AND RUNNING STRONG!!!!
Finally time to do the cams, turbo and fuel pump!

Stuck in a hard spot here...
I've done business with this shop since 1983.... The son--- who I graduated HS with now runs it.... He's always been more than fair to me... I have even changed my own tires in a pinch when I needed them done but they didn't have time.
I guess what I'm saying is I like them and will still go back but I'm disappointed in how this all went down...
Have not complained to them....
Now I see my front balance shaft is not lining up with the marks.... and I'm wondering if the vibration (Even though I didn't feel any) could've loosened the crank bolt???
I bought the car real cheap and immediately took it to have the 60k service done...
I got it back and drove it about 1000 miles and every once in a while it would run erratic... Turned out the crank bolt backed out and let the crank sensor plate hit the crank sensor taking it out.$$$.
I figured that's why it was so cheap.... a driving issue...
I've bought and swapped out in this order: Plugs, wires, coils, cam sensor, injectors, map sensor, and finally THE CRANK SENSOR, CRANK KEY AND PICKUP PLATE.
I never put the two together... So I believe all my troubleshooting is at my expense both labor and parts.
It's been about a year now I haven't driven the car.
I just want it to be correct so I'm taking the time to do it myself...
I have a set of cams and a IX turbo waiting TO GO ON AS SOON AS IT RUNS PROPERLY (And I'm doing it myself...lol).

Finally had time to get the car back together.....
And running.
Tomorrow I'll put the tire and plastic cover on and hopefully my problem is solved!!!
Still thinking about how to handle the situation with the garage....
BTW.... I REALLY like working on my Duramax over this thing with the motor jammed in sideways!!!lol
All done All done

If he's your friend, he'll care that his shop is jacking up your car. Chances are that they jacking up other peoples' cars too. You'd be doing him a favor by letting him know and not going to court to get restituion.
