Sure we get some free cover but anyone who can afford it tends to pay for their own private cover anyway so they can guarantee to see a doctor. Would you rather pay for it or wait 18months for an operation for example? The NHS is hardly the great saviour Michael Moore would have you believe

^ I think it's a wonderful idea that your doctors get bonuses & pay based on how well they do, not just 'cuz they decide to get paid more.

Also, something is better than nothing, if you're dirt poor.

Im sure it is a good idea if they are working a normal week but when they are doing 80-100hours and people lives are at risk then something isnt quite right.

Yeah its not a bad thing the NHS, but its better when u don't have to use it! Gumbo is right - most people have private health care to avoid delay in diagnosis/treatment. I have private health cover but only because my employers pay for it

Totally agree with that but that wasnt the point. We get some free health cover yes but the cost of living is more, we get taxed on everything, plus income tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax, road tax, and our favourite VAT. The NHS is free but somebody has to pay for it whether they realise it or not.

Anyway we are way way off subject with this one....we have pretty badges on the Evo everyones a winner

I'm sure that is the case in many instances. I just don't think it's right for people to decide to give themselves raises, 'cuz they felt like it. I parallel this to the US senate.
