Are you guys planning on doing anything for the RA?

Built differently with completely different internals. You might as well compare the Evo 5-speed to the old Galant's torque converter.

I see a lot of guys not digesting this info too well. The modding is going to be tough on the RA, at least for now. TTP did a great job extracting what they can, but overall it is going to be modest at best. About 10% gains. Not bad, but with the SST it will not be a beast.

Once again...so early in the game to tell whether you're correct or not.

i know they are different, i was questioning your reply to LuDa's pos where he states (assuming its a fact) that lancers with cvt could hold 350lb-ft so why shouldnt lancer ralliart with sst? From it, i dected that you feel that CVT transmissions can hold more torque than SST, why dont you expand on that?

Just because the torque protection kicked in doesn't mean "that's it, it's over". Thread to thread you're sounding quite definitive that this is the end of RA tuning because of TTP's current results. If the MR transmission is capable of more, then anything is possible with the RA with money and the right people looking into it. It might not be cost effective, but someone will still do it.

I think the information is being digested clearly, but the reaction doesn't have to be OMG 265 LB-FT of torque is the highest we'll ever see out of an SST RA EVAR!

It could be due to any number of factors. Pinpointing it to one isn't really possible.

You are right. Someone needs to get their car in so it can be experimented on. I am all for it. No sense to right it off as maxed yet. Let someone make that 8k mistake though, and not me. Hopefully one of you guys will offer up your ride for the benefit of us all.

My statements were WAY too hasty. Sorry.

my point was the SST cost twice as much CVT and has been known to be stronger which is why they put it in the evo. so you expect it to be able to hold at least more than the CVT

Yes sir! We'll have a car in about a month or so. In the meantime we are looking for anyone in the Chicago area that would be willing to bring theirs by so we can take a closer look at it.

I think he was joking...realistically 270 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels is more than 95% of the cars on the road, particularly if you're looking for a daily driver.
