MR SST: shift delay in manual mode
#17
I have this problem too, but we need to clear up information on this thread. There are 2 delays in shifting.
1) you flip the flappy paddle, 1-2 sec before the tranny BEGINS its shift
2) tranny begins its shift & there is an added delay in engaging the clutch to 100% in the newly selected gear. The longer the delay, the smoother the shift, the more heat generated.
Normal, sport, and super sport only effect the timing of #2 above. The shorter the timeframe in clutch engagement, the less heat generated in the transmission. Essential for racing.
Now auto or manual mode is different. Auto simply autoselects shift points. It does not (to my knowledge) influence shift timing, but takes guesswork out of the timing of #1 above.
So the question the OP has, what the **** is going on in #1 above? How can we eliminate that delay????

No but i'd really like to get an answer on this. I have realized there is an additional delay sometimes depending on mode and throttle position where the engine first retards before it decides to initiate a shift. Sometimes the duration of the retard literally doubles the total shift time. Unacceptable in my opinion.

I get this sometimes too, when I flick the shifter it takes another half second or so to actually shift, more apparent when I apply more throttle (3k rpm), which leads me to believe that it's torque related?

I've owned the evo x mr t for 6 months and yes it's true there is a weird *** delay on the fastest mode......it feels like a slush box auto....I also noticed that it doesn't have this delay on medium throttle on s sport around 5k it does shift fast but not at WOT as it should....I guess the dude that calibrated the tcu of the sst didn't do a great job....YouTube all other dual clutch equipped cars like the golf r, Porsche Carrera pdk, m3s the e92s with DCT and the 2013 135i...they pull the upshift and instantly it goes into the next gear and not only does it respond with out delay the gearbox it self slams the next gear in quick unlike the sst which feels like a slushbox. The only evo x I have ever seen that shifts as fast as a gtr or even faster is this car right here......
I have no idea what they did to his gearbox but from what he tells me is that his gearbox always shifted like that even when the car was stock without mods or tuning.....the evo x sst has been out for 7 years and i don't get why till now no one was able to crack the sst tcu and configure the paddle/shift delay and eleminate this stupid problem......I still love my evo x more than my former 1000 hp r34.....and I'm not planning on selling it at all......guys please check out the video and go look at ever other sst/mr on YouTube this is the ONLY one Lool that shifts like lightining.......knock on wood.....
