MR SST: shift delay in manual mode

Hi,

Has anyone experienced occasional 1-2 seconds delay when shifting up in manual mode (Normal/Sport/SS)? Like after you pull the lever backward there is 1-2 seconds delay before the shift occurs. This only happens to upshifts (1->2) but not downshifts. It happens very occasionally (but still annoying), and tends to happen only when shifting before 3000rpm or so. I haven't found a consistent way to repro this yet.

Say it happens at 1st to 2nd gear, 2nd to 3rd will be fine, but 3rd to 4th will have the same delay.

I tried all 3 modes. When the delay doesn't happen (95% of the time), it shifts quickly so I don't think it has anything to do with the shift mode.

Hm this happens to me too, but only in the mornings if I haven't warmed up my car. Throughout the day however, shifts from 1st to 2nd do not have that jerk anymore. Not sure if it's because the system needs to warm up or not. BTW i'm always in sport mode, although i don't think there would be a difference.

I only notice this when doing hard acceleration. If you don't shift around 5k in 1st, it'll slam against the rev limiter. I've just learned to deal with the timing.

^ yeah I agree. I think the boost and just plain momentum makes the SST take a bit longer in low gears. Auto mode seems to figure this out this better.

Question: When there's the 1 or 2 second delay, do the revs keep going?

yes, you start bouncing off the rev limiter

As we were saying, that doesn't work because the delay causes slamming against the rev limiter multiple times before the shift happens. At wot you have to shift at 5k (latest 6k) to avoid the rev limiter.

Interesting, my delay isn't as significant as the rest of you.

The only time I get a delay is when I jump in the car in the morning and do not let it warm up... on cold mornings only.... Other then that.. I never have or had any issues with shifting or delays.

I get some serious lag when in normal auto mode when i press the gas a good amount. Not sure if its the transmission or the turbo lag...

i have from time to time delay in auto-normal mode in very low speed .
when i in 30-60 kmh the gearbox go to 4-5 gear , when i stop and press the gas again , sometime
i see in the display that the gear go down from 5-4-3-2 and then , after one-two second its shift .
its like when you slow the car to make a turn and after the turn press the gas , its take the gearbox one-two second to reduce the gear from 5 to 2 .
in manual or in auto sport mode its not happened at all .
its not suppose to be fast gearbox shifting ?

by the way , in the last 2 weeks the dealership replace my clutch basket since i have a chatter clutch .
this phenomenon was before the clutch replacement and after the clutch replacement.....

its not suppose to be fast gearbox shifting ?
Can someone explain this phenomenon ?
