haven't decided on fluid yet I might go with willall or OEM, I'm on the fence ATM

And it'll take 12 liters with the new pan and cooler.

Okay here are some good pics of the transmission out of the car. Figure some guys might like to see it separate and assembled And one of the stock flywheel and engine without the transmission

Okay the first shot is the seal pan, it's just a giant seal that keeps the bell housing dry. This transmission is suppose to be unserviceable so this is the tricky part, there is no tool for this or replacement parts so BE CAREFUL!! We used a pop can and made 1/4" strips doubled (so folded length wise for thinkness) and used a standard screwdriver to apply enough pressure to slip the strips in, side by side we got 6 in and the pan just came right off. Take your time and be careful, it took about 15 minutes.

The next part is the balancer, there is a giant snap ring, again carefully and slowly remove it, it's made of spring steel and can break so don't force it too hard just work your way around it. Once off the balancer just pulls straight off.

Okay at this point it's time to remove both clutch baskets they just pull up I'm not sure if it was required but I marked the splines so I could put them back at the same balanced place just incase. Though to be honest I don't think it matters. The first one is the for the Larger Clutches once removed you'll see the clutch teeth on the bottom of the cavity, then the smaller basket.

Okay at this point the next step is a right hand threaded cap it holds then entire clutch basket in. Once off then entire basket containing both sets of clutches comes out.

Okay now for some ****ty ****ty Mitsu quality IMHO, this is from the cast and came this way, I didn't want to mess with it but I sure hope that doesn't break up and get into the gears :\ Followed by some pics of the needle bearing, be careful of these when you remove the basket I'd keep them in the tranny.

Now that the basket is out there are 2 snap rings, again be carful it's sprung metal, and you have to compress the clutch springs there are some on each side I used clamps though it wouldn't be hard to make a good tool for it. To put them back we used our weight it doesn't take as much time to seal the ring as it does to remove it. So clamps where easier to remove where as weight was easier to assemble.

NOTE: keep everything it the right order and orientation, the springs can go in backwards and the order is also important.

that is a good question I'll be in contact with Kris today I'll ask him, but yeah I wasn't happy to see it :\ And at the angle I didn't want to try and clean it as it likely would have fell into the gears :\

this is all I have for a few more weeks, gonna start the HOWTO doc and I'll take a few more pics when i get back to my car in a week (hopefully with the fluids). I forgot to say that the axels are just a snap ring type lock so you can just pry them out, I didn't to start cause I didn't know for sure, they are now apart but I forgot to take pics of it.

So what do you plan to do about the hole in the case? How is that going to hold fluid?

oh that hole should be there, it's just not clean, they should have cleaned it in the machining stages of the case building process IMHO. I piece of that casting could break off and enter into the gears area which well wouldn't be good. But I couldn't do anything so I just left it untouched and I hope it never breaks off, it's sucky but it was better then trying to fix it and haven't to crack the case all the way open
