Overheat signal when trying to launch control
Ok, so i have owned my 2010 Evo SE for 3 weeks now. It had 13300 miles when i bought it and currently has 13980 miles. I have tried to engage launch control; shift into drive, S-sport, traction control off, left foot on brake, press on gas....and at about 3.5k rpms, transmission overheat warning displays and engine revs back to 800 rpm then warning goes away.
There doesn't appear to be any slipping in any driving modes.
Any thoughts?
Evo is still under warranty if something is wrong. The dealer did tell me there was an update reflash for the tc-sst when i bought the car, maybe the reflash is screwy?

You have the launch control wrong if i read that correctly. put her into ssport, turn ASC off. then hold the asc button until the dash lights up with no brake. then hold the brake 100% to the floor. then gas to 100%. RPM will hold at 5-5500 RPM. then release, an your off.
L/C will remain active, until you turn ssportoff, or reactivate ASC.
There have been no finding that L/C damages your SST.

Did I type lunch? Haha my bad.
I thought I was setting it up correctly. I turned the traction control off then held it until it beeped. I did not push the accelerator down all the way, kind of feathered it. Kind of afraid to try again tho....

I've only done it once in my car as its definately not great on the tranny and I didn't buy it to drag. But yeah, you can't feather like you would on a manual car. The key is mash brakes hard, and then mash accelerator hard like you stole it and then LC will engage. If you feather, of course it'll heat up since it's slipping the clutches creating friction.
So far, I don't think there's been anyone that has broken a SST from launching too much, but the clutches do wear down.

Feathering the gas will interior the two, throughong the overheat message. Its not actually overheating. The comp is kicking you out of l/c because its assuming its going to overheat. This is one of our many electrical issues in our SST.
There has been no documented case where an SST has failed do to racing and or modification. Only faulty electrical issues. Contact SSP if you need verification.

This happened to me the first time i tracked it. On my 3rd launch it beeped, showed overheat and idled down. VERY embarrasing but nothing was broke and lesson learned....wait a little while for the trans to cool before launching again.

In Switzerland and Germany we have many damaged SST.
MM change them on warranty. Many says there is an bad sensor who make the clutches flipper. This is not so easy to find. But when the SST is really damaged you hear it and than its to late.
But for the LC is the problem that the SST oil heat very fast and the Cooler don't cool so fast.
The Cooling cycle is to slow to cool and the electric says STOP.
Only way is to bring the oil all the time to an lower temp with one more Cooler in front.
