R blinks occasionally before engaging?
Anyone with the SST notice that sometimes when switching to reverse, the "R" gear blinks for a few seconds before engaging the actual gear?
I noticed this yesterday and it seems a few seconds longer then usual. I actually revved the engine before the gear was engaged and was a bit surprised that R wasn't engaged. Turns out it was blinking on the dash for a bit and then engaged a few seconds later.
Has anyone else seen this? Usual behavior or a sign of trouble?

The flashing indicates that the car has not yet been able to confirm that the transmission is in the Reverse setting. If it continues for more than a few seconds you should shift back to Park or neutral, wait a moment, and try again.
This is normal (and covered in the manual).

Thanks guys. I know the owner's manual went over going into R on cold starts but this actually happened to me as I was parking after a bit of a long drive. Glad to hear it is normal.

That seems a bit excessive to drive forward every time you want to reverse. You just choose reverse... and if it takes a while to go in... shift out of reverse and select it again.
