Warranty Issues/Fixing SST(Canada)

So, I had an issue the other day with the SST not catching the reverse gear, and it had it towed. They pulled a P183D on it, and said that they had seen this in the past and next step was to swap out the transmission fluid(it was done early on once, but it was due). Once they swapped out for new fluid it was fine. I drove it home and things were great until this morning when I could hear grinding(metal on metal). Took it back to the dealership and the tech said it was the clutch packs, most likely. They began working on my warranty claim and I thought that was the end of it.

BUT, warranty(Techline) called the dealership and said they are not honoring it because of the modifications. ****.

Have people had success with warranty claim while having mods installed? I hate this dealership but it was the closest one when I had my car towed. Now my car is apparently flagged in their system. ****. What should I do? Who should I call? Do I even have a chance?

If warranty is going to never pay for it, I don't have the 20 grand or whatever bull**** number they were quoting me to get a brand new one, so should I look at just getting the clutch packs replaced? Should I tell them to pull the transmission apart and see what's actually wrong?

I doubt in Calgary, Alberta there is an SST specialist that I can take it to. So I'm hoping there is one in Canada I send it, to get fixed. But shipping to the states could be an option if there is on one.

Suggestions? Advice?

...I need to go car shopping this weekend.

If you know someone who can pull the SST out you could ship it to Jacks or SSP. I would give them call first. I think full rebuild is about 5k.

I spoke to the guys at Jacks and its probably the clutch packs, but we couldn't be sure until it's on the bench. He said I probably can't do any more damage but I'm so scared it could make a 1500 fix, 4000 if keep driving it. Going to talk to SSP tomorrow and see what they say.

How much is it to crate the transmission off to them? I'd like to do that with mine sooner or later...

That and, how did this happen? I'm guessing from your Part's List that you were making 330/330 + or - 10 to 15 HP or ft. lbs. Right? SST shouldn't have given up the ghost from that...

Thanks!

Still working out the numbers but its going to be at least $500 each direction I bet. Trying to figure out the cheapest way. Might even be cheaper to rail ship the entire car, so I can save money dropping the transmission here and putting it back.

I'm putting down 330ft/lb tq and a little under 300hp right now. Safe power levels IMO, but maybe I just got a dud. I don't even drive the car that hard.

It's really odd that you had issues with it at those power levels...did your tuner adjust the SST tables? Regardless, metal on metal grind sounds are not normal. Did you call Jack's yet to find out about the rebuild?

A full SST overhaul by Kozmic Motorsports $3150 if you ship us the transmission. This includes our Economy Race Pack and Full overhaul of the entire transmission. We also have an extensive inventory of serviceable new and used SST parts should something be found that is not typically designed to wear, like shift forks, gear sets, etc. (Parts that are not designed to wear are not included in this price).

If you only need clutches, our Economy Race Pack Full Service Kit is $1672.04 and includes every component inside the clutch compartment that should be replaced with the clutches. If you want to ship just the basket to us we can build up the clutch pack and ship it back. (This is much less expensive than shipping an entire transmission), or we can ship you the kit. We have instructions on our web site explaining how to remove the clutch basket here. http://kozmicmotorsports.com/img_upl...structions.pdf
(be patient, it is a 15 page PDF with high rez photos, it takes a few moments to load).
If you would like to discuss options feel free to give us a call. We ship transmission parts all over the world.
